NYSSBA’s Virtual Convention FAQ
Q. When will the Virtual Convention be offered?
A. The Keynote Session, featured sessions, educational sessions, Education Expo, and
Convention Finale will be Oct. 27 – 29, as follows:
A. Yes. These will be offered the week before, Oct. 20 – 22, as follows:
A. Educational sessions will be hosted live and each will include a 15-minute Q&A period.
Q. Will the Pre-convention Events be recorded for viewing after the live presentations?A. The Pre-convention Communications Workshop will not be recorded. Be sure to register for this event so you don’t miss this informative workshop.
The Pre-convention Law Seminar will be recorded and a link to the recording will be sent to those who registered for the seminar.
A. You will participate in the Convention through a virtual event platform that will enable you to attend the sessions you choose. Your registration confirmation will contain a link to the virtual event platform and personal login credentials created for you and only you. There will be a platform home page where you will find access to the various Convention events. You can access the virtual event platform on any web-enabled device, including desktops, laptops, tablets and mobile devices. For the best experience, we recommend you use Chrome, Safari or Edge browsers on a laptop or tablet.
A. Live sessions will be recorded for on-demand viewing within 48 hours. This benefit is part of your Convention registration fee.
A. Recorded sessions will be available on the virtual event platform through Dec. 31, 2020.
A. Yes. If you are watching a session and decide to switch to another, you can do so easily by going to the Schedule tab on the home page and clicking on the session you prefer.
A. You will be able to visit exhibitors’ virtual booths by clicking on the Exhibitor tab on the Convention virtual event platform home page. Then enter a booth by clicking on the exhibitor’s name. There you will have access to a chat function, email function and appointment-setting opportunities. You will also find links to websites, brochures, photos and videos.
A. Unfortunately, no. However, we will feature student music group videos, a student art display and student photos through a Student Talent tab on the virtual event platform home page.
A. A Networking tab on the left side of the home page will enable you to create a profile, an e-business card, create a list of “my attendees” and connect with those attendees through a chat link. A Chat tab, also located on the home page, will then enable you to chat with those you have connected with through the Networking tab. You can also connect with your colleagues and NYSSBA through social media. Use the hashtag #nyssba2020 on your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn posts.
A. It’s easy. You can register online at convention.nyssba.org/registration
A.Our third party convention platform provider, PSAV, places a high value on the protection of their customer’s data, the protection of their personal data and the personal data of attendees, presenters and exhibitors. All systems PSAV utilizes consider data protection by design and default. PSAV takes all factors into account to protect all personal data and ensure a data subject’s privacy. Event related information is based on specific services provided related to the contracted event and is generally destroyed between 30-60 days after the event.
A. Early Bird Rate: Aug. 17 – Sept. 13: $260 member/$520 non-member
Full Rate: Sept. 14 and after: $285 member/$570 non-member
Fee includes Board Officers Roundtable on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and 50+ educational sessions, and the Convention Finale, School Board Meeting: The Musical, from Oct. 27-29.
Separate Convention fees:
A. Yes. Each registration fee is unique to an individual registrant and cannot be shared with others. Three to four days before the event you will receive an email with a link to the platform and personalized login credentials.
A. No. Because this is a virtual convention, NYSSBA has already discounted its registration fees for 2020.
A. If you are unable to attend the Convention, you must complete and submit a Convention Registration Change Request Form to NYSSBA no later than Tuesday, Oct.13, 2020. Cancellation requests will not be honored after the Oct. 13 deadline.
A. Yes. Substitutions are allowed if done by October 13, 2020.
